Toggle36. Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is an uncommon condition which can be bewildering. It affects the tissues that hold the joints together, leading to it being referred to as “joint hypermobility.” It is usually genetic, so if any of your parent has it, there is a chance of you having it too. Scoliosis is a result of EDS which can cause the spine to curve.
Symptoms of scoliosis can include pain and discomfort in the back, neck, and spine muscles, as well as a lack of flexibility in the spine. It is not a disease itself; it is a consequence of an irregular growth of the spine. If you are worried that you may have scoliosis or any other spinal deformity caused by EDS, it is important to speak to a doctor right away.
