1. Smell
Even if they don’t make your food taste much better, they still smell nice. That means you can use them to make your home smell good again. Just put some spices like thyme, oregano, or sage in small bags and place them in areas that need a little freshening up. You can also make potpourri by boiling water and adding spices like cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and ginger. Say farewell to unpleasant odors!

2. DIY
If you enjoy doing crafts, you can use spices for your own do-it-yourself projects. Surprisingly, spices can be used to create scented candles. Simply melt soy wax, add coconut oil, ginger, clove, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour the mixture into a jar, and your candle is ready. Spices can also be added to soap for a pleasant scent and a natural exfoliating effect. You can even use spices like turmeric, saffron, and paprika to make natural dyes for clothes. Just wrap them separately in cheesecloth, boil them in different pots of water for an hour, add white vinegar and the fabric you want to dye, let it sit for about thirty minutes, and then dry the fabric.

3. Insects
Expired spices can keep bugs away from your home. Some spices repel insects, so after you make scented sachets, make insect-repelling ones too! Just put basil, lavender, rosemary, thyme, bay leaves, dill, or garlic in a sachet and place it in bug-prone areas of your home. The bugs will leave soon after!
